How to Measure Dust Collector Filter Bags for Replacement

For replacement dust filter bags, diameter and length are only part of the specification. The top connection, bottom construction and cage fit also need checking.

Start with an unused spare or the original drawing if available. A used bag may have stretched, shrunk or become distorted, so tell the supplier when your measurements come from one.

Record the dimensions clearly

Lay the bag flat without pulling it tight. If you measure across the flattened body, label that figure “flat width,” not diameter. Record the length and mark the exact measuring points on a photo. Length conventions can differ between bag designs, particularly where cuffs, snap bands or hanging fittings are involved.

Photograph the top and bottom separately. Show the snap band, ring, cuff or other fixing, together with any reinforcement or wear strips. For a snap-band fitting, include the tubesheet hole diameter and plate thickness where available.

If the existing cage will be reused, provide its diameter, length and top arrangement separately. Cage dimensions should not be submitted as bag dimensions.

A useful enquiry includes one full-length photo, close-ups of both ends and a marked dimension sketch. Send Verlofy these details, or ask about submitting a sample, so the replacement specification can be reviewed before quotation.
